Finding the Perfect Lesbian Wedding Suit: A Guide for Every Body and Every Wedding
When I got married a few years ago, helping a few members of my wedding party find the right outfit became a bigger challenge than I expected. For queer folks and anyone shopping outside of the binary, the search for a well-fitting wedding suit can feel overwhelming. I remember wishing a guide like this existed, something that would help us find both custom and off-the-rack wedding suits that actually fit and flatter all body types.
If you’re on the hunt for a lesbian wedding suit, whether for yourself, your partner, or someone in your wedding party– you’re in the right place. This blog post highlights brands that offer inclusive sizing, custom tailoring, and gender-affirming details that make a world of difference.
Why Finding the Right Suit Matters
Renting a suit might sound like the easy way out, but it rarely works for those of us with unique sizing needs or gender-affirming preferences. I remember one of my wedding party members asking to have the shoulder pads removed from their suit because they felt like a linebacker. Even after buying the suit, it was tough to find a seamstress who truly understood what they wanted.
That’s why this list of bespoke and customizable suit brands exists, to help you find a lesbian wedding suit that makes you feel confident, comfortable, and completely yourself on your big day. You deserve more than just a suit that “kind of fits.”
Things to Consider Before Buying Your Wedding Suit
What Does Your Day Look Like?
Are you eloping in Yosemite? Dancing under string lights at a backyard wedding? Walking down the aisle at a historic venue? Your itinerary matters when choosing a suit, especially if movement, hiking, or high temps are involved. Look for breathable, flexible fabrics and a cut that allows for comfort as well as style.
Where Are You Going?
Your suit should work with the weather, not against it. Here’s a quick guide:
-
Colder months or mountain elopements: Look for suits made with wool, velvet, cashmere, or tweed. These materials retain warmth without sacrificing style.
-
Warmer locations or summer weddings: Cotton blends, 100% cotton, or linen are great breathable options that will keep you cool throughout the day.
-
Unpredictable weather: Layer up! A well-fitted vest, suspenders, or even layering with different fabrics (think cotton tank top or long johns) can help you adapt to shifting temperatures without losing your wedding-day look.
Where to Find the Perfect Lesbian Wedding Suit
Here’s a curated list of brands that offer everything from custom tailoring to size-inclusive designs, and most importantly—respect for your identity and style. Whether you’re looking for sharp tailoring, soft silhouettes, or something that blurs the lines entirely, these brands understand what a lesbian wedding suit can be: affirming, badass, and totally you.

Bindle & Keep
Rae Tutera + Daniel Friedman started their business after they had uncomfortable experiences shopping for their own suit. Appalled by process and lack of understanding outside traditional menswear they set out to create a custom experience to design suits around your body, not fitting your body to the clothing. This bespoke service is not inexpensive but the quality is guaranteed with the company promise, with the amazing service of complimentary alterations for as long as the garment is wearable.
“Everyone is triggered by something about their own body, whether they are a teen who is transitioning or a cisgender man who feels like their body is, for some reason, irregular. There are no body types that we don’t take. This is all just measurements. And we can measure anybody.” – Daniel Friedman

Indochino
Created to make bespoke/custom suits more affordable to the everyday wearer. Indochino offers custom-designed suits for a very reasonable price and offers delivery within 3 weeks. (which is incredible!) The website does not do a fabulous job of showcasing womxn wearing their suits, however, I have heard personal accounts from numerous female-presenting and androgynous consumers, that they have had a very pleasant experiencing working with the brand. They once had a rainbow lining – which I would love for them to bring back.

This is a great off-the-rack option for you to start with and then tailor to fit your body. Unfortunately, the largest size that they serve is size 20 in women.
“We named the company Little Black Tux in homage to both the classic “little black dress” and the LGBT community whose needs, styles, and bodies deserve to be included in formal wear design” – Little Black Tux

Suit Shop (formerly The Groomsmen Suit)
This is another great off-the-rack option, providing sizes up to size 20. This female founded and run business was created after their own struggle finding outfits for their wedding party. They have created a brand of suits that can be purchased for less than the price of a traditional suit rental. My favorite thing about this company is that they allow for a free try on period of 7 days. This is unheard of and so great to truly make sure your wedding outfit is exactly how you want it.
