OH MY GOODNESS! Have y’ all ever been to Sacramento? I have only been once before and when Maggie + Raquel reached out to me and said: “Let’s do Sac!” I was so excited! Sacramento is one of those towns that I think is overlooked in California and I am totally guilty of overlooking it too. It’s got a perfect blend of Old town vibes and a city feel.

My wife + I were up early on a Saturday to make the quick 3 hour drive to Sacramento. I was nervous as we headed out of Fresno because most of the Spring green has already been killed off by the heat. Of course, coming into Sacramento, everything was lush, beautiful and in full bloom. There are too many amazing locations within Sacramento, it was incredibly hard to choose which one area for their engagement. We decided to use Capitol Park + Tower bridge (Capital Park is now one of my favorite locations to shoot at) – there is a mixture of beautiful architecture, rose gardens, towering trees and a hidden gem of a native plant display. Who else is obsessed with desert native plants?!

I loved hearing about Raquel + Maggie’s long history together, which started out as friends in high school. Years later, they were brought together again and the romance was and still is undeniable. Although their story started in Southern California, their love has flourished in Sacramento. Raquel proposed to Maggie with a romantic picnic on the beach and it was just perfect for the two of them. Their session gave me all the feels, with their non-stop laughter and genuine look of love. I cannot wait to photograph their vineyard wedding next year! These two are so kind, fun and genuinely awesome people– I am excited to many years of friendship and sharing accomplishments!

Who would’ve thought this little gem was in Sacramento?

It was the perfect Spring weather in Sacramento, with the perfect temperature, beautiful sunset and pollen EVERYWHERE. The sneezes didn’t stop these two from cuddling in the flowers and enjoying all the natural beauty surrounding them.
